The Patriots play their homes games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, just 21 minutes outside on Boston and 21 mile from downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Their headquarters and practice facilities is located in Foxborough, Massachusetts too.


New England Patriots News History


The New England Patriots were awarded the eighth and final franchise of the then developing American Football League (AFL) On November 16, 1959.

The franchise were owned by a Boston Business Executive William "Billy" Sullivan and Sullivan Brother Printer, owned by Joseph Sullivan.

The next winter the local Bostonian's were allowed to submit names for the Boston football team. The popular choice and the one that Billy Sullivan chose was the "Boston Patriots".

Immediately afterwards, The Boston Globe artist Phil Bissell created "Pat Patriot" logo.

The Patriots never had their own regular home stadium until they moved into their new stadium in Foxbourgh, Massachusetts, in 1971. After the move, they decided to change the name of the team from the Boston Patriots to the Bay State Patriots.

That name was rejected by the NFL and on March 23, 1971, the team officially change their name to the New England Patriots.

The Patriots have been a model NFL franchise since 1994 when Massachusetts native Robert Kraft purchase the team. In 2000, Mr Kraft hired, Bill Belichick as GM and Head coach.

Their philosophy is making personnel decisions, game planning with a  "team" concept, stressing preparation, strong work ethic, versatility, and a lack of individual ego. This philosophy, has led to 3 Super Bowls wins under Bill Belichick, which was analyzed in the 2004 book called "patriots reign".

Mr. Kraft also finance a private facility called Patriot Palace with private money, kudos to Robert Kraft.
