The Green Bay Packers join American Professional Football Association (APFA) in 1921, now the NFL. They are the third old franchise in NFL founded by Earl "Curly" Lambeau and Geroge Whitney Calhoun.

Before joining the NFL the Green Bay Packers played in semi pro leagues from 1919 to 1920.

They are in the North (Norris al la Chris Berman) Division of the National Football Conference of the NFL.

The Packers play their home games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Their headquarters and practice facilities is located in   Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Green Bay Packers News History

In 1919, Earl Lambeau ask his employer of the Indian Packing Company to sponsor the team.

Lambeau was given $500 for uniforms and equipment, on the agreement that he would name the team after the company. Today that name is still the oldest team name in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers.

On August 17,1921 the Packers were granted a franchise with the American Professional Football Association.

The franchise was revoke when George Halas of the Chicago Staley's (Bears) told the league that the Packers were using college players. This incident start the rivalry between the Packers and Bears.

Curly Lambeau got the franchise reinstated the next year with the backing on the Hungry Five, which formed the Green Bay Football Corporation in 1923, which continues to run the franchise to this day.
