Baltimore Ravens Rumors History

The Ravens are not the first team in Baltimore, the Baltimore Colts were the first franchise. Secretly, during the early hours on March 29, 1984, I watch on ESPN the Mayflower moving trucks drive one by one relocate
the Baltimore Colts from Baltimore Maryland to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Afterwards, the City of Baltimore began their journey of bringing an NFL franchise to Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens rumors joined the NFL as an expansion team on February 8, 1996. The City of Baltimore offered Art Modell a new stadium.

The team held a fan contest with 33,288 voters to determine the team's name. The name chosen was, "Ravens" (quote the raven never no), which I got from watching a professional wrestler name Raven. He always said, after his interview,"quote the raven never more".

I found out later that quote came from Edgar Allen Poe who wrote the poem The "Raven" and the team's name was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe who lived, died and is buried in Baltimore.

The Ravens franchise has been led by general manager Ozzie Newsome since 2002 and has had only three head coaches; Ted Marchibroda, Brian Billick, and the present head coach John Harbaugh.

Art Modell hired as a Ozzie Newsome as director of football operations and then promoted him to vice president/general manager, making Ozzie Newsome the first African American general manager in the NFL.

In 1996 during the Baltimore Raven first NFL draft, in the first round the ravens drafted Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden No 4 overall and linebacker Ray Lewis 26 overall. Jonathan Ogden is in the NFL Hall of Fame and Ray Lewis will be in the Hall of Fame soon. When I think of the Baltimore Ravens, I think of Ray Lewis.

The Baltimore Ravens are my number 5 rank franchise in the NFL. They are a Class Act organization and if you are a up and coming owner, please use this franchise as one of my top 5 teams to build your franchise.
